about

In the lyrics department, Edo mentions that “Slavery” is an explicit social criticism. Motives, through its debut, talks about modern life that are enslaving humans. Slavery in this sense is not limited to the work relations between an employer and employee, but in a broad sense, from how we are dependent on digital technology to how consumerism subjects us to be obedient buyers.

“Slavery” released on 26 June, coinciding with the International Day of the United Nations in support of victims of torture. The date is to remind listeners that slavery is often followed by torture.

lyrics

Slavery

Why should everyone be happy (that is right)
When we’re all living in misery (that is right)
But we always go round and round (that is right)
Cause we’re now part of a new… (that is right)

Slavery
Slavery
Slavery

Some people’s pocket’s always full (that is right)
And we all know that money rules (that is right)
But we always go round and round (that is right)
Cause we’re now part of a new… (that is right)

Slavery
Slavery
Slavery

We can’t stop going round and round
we are now part of a new…
